We passed around the sign up sheet for Hope Creek Bingo. There is room for additional volunteers May through August. That is the third Sunday of the Month, from 2-3. We will shift our Father's Day week, date to be determined.
Randy presented our current balance sheet to 12/31/2025. We are in good standing and expect to break even at the end of our Rotary year. He pointed out that certain expenses are paid at the beginning of the Rotary year, and others toward the middle. The bill was paid for our holiday party in December, but we did not collect from our members until January.
We have paid half of our bill for the Hauberg trees for the District grant. The other half will be paid when the trees arrive. That is expected in late March/early April. The project will be completed by May.
We have not paid out to various organizations we support. This includes the Rock Island Children's Advocacy breakfast and our budgeted quarterly grants. Speakers are provided an application. In the absence of a request, the club must make a choice on a beneficiary of those funds. We had budgeted $400 per quarter.
Please be sure to contact Randy Skipton or Sue Cassatt if you cannot make our meeting. Randy monitors his email. It is best to contact him the Thursday prior to the meeting. We are incurring significant food expenses unnecessarily. We paid in excess of $40 this week for meals. If he doesn't hear from you, he assumes you will be attending. We understand that there can be last minute obligations.
The District Conference will be April 10th and 11th in Rockford. Registration will be available on the District website. It is not available as of the day of our meeting. Check back to the district site periodically. Andy made a motion to approve an expenditure up to $200 for the cost of a raffle basket to be available at the conference. Wayne seconded. We had unanimous approval. We will have a Quad City theme and include Boetje's mustard, Lagomarcino chocolates, Whitey's gift card, and a little warmth from a local brewery. Mississippi Distillery is a favorite. Please let President Sue if you would like to “shop” for us. The club can reimburse for the expense with submission of receipts.
President Sue asked Nathan if he could offer some ideas on an activity to support our District Governor's Level Up program. He will give some thought and share at a future meeting. We would like to complete the activity prior to the end of the Rotary year, June 30th.
It is time to determine what we'll be doing for our District Grant for the 20206-2027 Rotary year. Paperwork must be submitted by early May. President Sue would like submission of possible projects prior to our March 2nd meeting. We will take a vote at that time. Bill Abel has proposed a collaboration with Project Now and support clothing and shelter for the homeless in our community.
