We will be making a donation to Coral Restoration in honor of Kent Ferris. Please bring your personal donation to the May 11th meeting if you didn't already contribute.
We would like to have our RYLA student present to the club about her experience on June 1st. This would be in lieu of the business meeting currently planned. Sue will reach out to her about availability.
Bingo volunteers are set for the remainder of this Rotary year. Please feel free to attend on a day you haven't registered to volunteer. It's a quick day to serve. A sign-up sheet went around for the upcoming year.
A sign-up sheet was exchanged for programs the 2026-2027 Rotary year. Please share any good speaker ideas you may have. Contact the person assigned to a given month to get them on the schedule. This year, the person in charge of programs a given month will also do the invocation. Please contact a sub if you can't attend a week.
We had further discussion about the “level up” District Governor initiative for the year. We hope to complete a project even though it likely will extend into the new year. We considered a mock interview and best practices. Sue shared some ideas Nathan provided. The local school districts and local university will be contacted in the fall to find participants. A goal of 6-12 students seems ideal.
We had preliminary discussion of the budget for the new year. Bill and Randy will have some discussion. There will probably not be major changes.
We will do the food collection Saturday again this year. The date is planned for June 6th. There will be one hour shifts at both doors from 9 am to 3 pm. A sign-up sheet will be distributed next week. We have supported St. James in the past. A portion will be donated to the Zion Lutheran Church Pantry also this year.
The John Deere Classic sign-up sheet was distributed. Paul, with assistance from his IT department, will generate a google doc to aid in allowing friends and family to choose their shifts. The Wednesday shifts are different than years past. It is just 2 shifts of security, 2 people each shift. Only amateurs playing in the pro-am will be parking at Jewel that day so no parking attendance necessary. The PGA has requested additional security diligence for the event. Downs coverage will be solely on Saturday all day.
We have not received a communication about the Volunteer Dinner. It's expected to be June 22nd, based on years past. If so, we will attend the event instead of our regular meeting.
